Penanggalan Valentine

Just a quick little card for the Valentine season.

A Penanggalan is type of monster/witch/ghost found in various cultures throughout Southeast Asia where it is known by a variety of names, including Leyak, Phi-Kasu and Ap (Japan also has a similar monster called a Nukekubi, which is a flying detachable head minus the dripping, dangling internal organs) . During the day these creatures look like ordinary women, but at night their heads and internal organs detach from their bodies and fly around preying on sleeping humans. In some legends the penanggalan is particularly drawn to women giving birth. It will lurk on the roof and extend a long, thin tongue into the house to lap up the new mother's blood and infect her with a wasting disease. Overall not a pleasant creature.
