Crawfordsville Monster

Description

Another state cryptid-- this one from Indiana.

In 1981, a strange, amorphous flying beast was sighted in the skies above Crawfordsville, IN.  A local paper described it as:

"about eighteen feet long and eight feet wide and moved rapidly through the air by means of several pairs of side fins. . . . It was pure white and had no definite shape or form, resembling somewhat a great white shroud fitted with propelling fins. There was no tail or head visible but there was one great flaming eye, and a sort of a wheezing plaintive sound was emitted from a mouth which was invisible. It flapped like a flag in the winds as it came on and frequently gave a great squirm as though suffering unutterable agony."about eighteen feet long and eight feet wide and moved rapidly through the air by means of several pairs of side fins. . . . Ultimately, two men followed the beast to figure out just what it was.  They discovered that it was actually.... a giant flock of kildeer.  Apparently the recently installed electric lights int he town had messed up the birds biological rhythms, causing them to take to the skies in a massive cloud.

For my version of the Monster, I patterned it's fins and movement after an anomalocaris.

I often like to think if it wasn't a kildeer flock that it's instead a giant comb jelly beating it's rudders and cilia through the air
