This year October is Inktober! For the whole month thousands of us artist-types will be doing an ink drawing a day. Or at least trying to. Unless life gets in the way. Which it frequently does.
Anyway, for my Inktober entries, I'm going to be playing around with one of my favorite subjects: D&D-style monsters. I'll do my best to draw a different monster every day-- mostly original creations, though I'll also be drawing some of my favorite D&D critters (duckbunnies and flumphs ahoy!).
To start things off, here's a Chalk Elemental. Chalk is a type of limestone formed almost entirely from the microscopic shells of planktonic marine algae known as coccolithophores. Here, the elemental has taken on the form of one of these organisms. It interacts with the world around it via the floating, jointed rods that hover around it's body.
Honestly, this wasn't my best work, mainly because it was done late at night and I was really tired. But I wanted to hit the ground running for Inktober. Hopefully I'll be able to invest a little more time in future entries.
Are the chalk rods that hover around its body the same sort of chalk rods used for writing on blackboards?
